We Talked About Murder
Members:Chris Boehk / Joey Siggens Related Links:About:WE TALKED ABOUT MURDER are from AUSTIN, TEXAS. They went through several line-up changes over the years. The band originally began with Mark Boyd (guitar, vocals) and Rick Gonzalez (guitar, vocals) playing alongside Matt Buie and Chris. When Mark left the band in the August of 2001, Joey joined the band to fill the empty guitarist/vocalist spot. After recording Expecting the Explosion, Rick left the band in January of 2003. After releasing Expecting the Explosion (and after 4 years of doing WTAM), Matt also decided to leave the band. During the year after the album release, the trio wrote an album's worth of material. Originally scheduled to be recorded with Tim Kerr again, plans changed when Matt left the band. Joey and Chris, being the only two remaining, decided to record the new material themselves. Chris took on drum duties in addition to bass and vocals. Joey still plays the guitar and sings like a motherfucker. Chris and Joey now have a new band. It's called Beta Valentine and they'll be hot to trot by fall 2004. Chris is playing drums full-time and Joey is playing guitar. Bass and second guitar to be determined. Mark Boyd lives in San Marcos and continues to play in various projects. Rick Gonzalez lives in Austin and has a new band called The Chapters. Matt Buie lives in Austin and has a new band called Camp X-Ray. That's the way bands go, right? More about We Talked About Murder (2000-2004): WE TALKED ABOUT MURDER played over 100(!) shows during their 4 year existence, including SXSW 2002 & 2003, as well as frequent weekend trips to nearby cities and states (Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana), and a Midwest tour that took them to Chicago and back in March of 2003. WE TALKED ABOUT MURDER played ROCK MUSIC. Describing their sound is not an easy task. For simplicity¹s sake, they write songs that have a DC/Midwest sound mixed with various other indie rock influences and a pinch of classic rock thrown in. WE TALKED ABOUT MURDER provided you with their full-length album "EXPECTING THE EXPLOSION". TIM KERR produced the record for them and did some vocals and other random noises, too. TIM is very well known for his participation in bands like BIG BOYS and MONKEYWRENCH and for producing bands like THE MAKERS and THE MOONIE SUZUKI, just to name a few. WE TALKED ABOUT MURDER have several releases under their belts. That was their second record; their first being a 6-song EP, which came out on HAS ANYONE EVER TOLD YOU? in December of 2000. They are also featured on three compilation CD's - VOICE THIS SOUND on INVERSE RECORDS, a SHUDDER TO THINK TRIBUTE on IGNITION RECORDS, and an AUSTIN PUNK ROCK.com CD. Their song ³Victimology² appeared on MATT HOFFMAN¹S PRO BMX video series, too. Their Super 8 film/video for the song ³Promise Play² premiered at the FLICKER FILM FESTIVAL in Austin and received a good amount of airplay on the AUSTIN MUSIC NETWORK. Their songs are in regular rotation at many college radio stations across the country. |
